This is the youth wing of the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB). Established in 1997, as an institution that attempts to fill in the gap in terms of Islamic dawah work in Britain where the call for a comprehensive Islam that encompasses all aspects of life is lacking. MAB tries to implement this through wisdom and good preaching.

Aims and objectives of MAB

To spread the teachings and culture of Islam, instill the Islamic principles in the hearts of Muslim community and enhance the good morals within the British society
To assist the Muslim community in maintaining its integrity and foster in them good Islamic conduct like worship of Allah, education and social relation especially ties of kinship.

Education and character building for the MAB members according to its syllabus.
Make Muslims aware of their duties towards the society, within which they are living, and towards their duty of being witnesses on mankind.

To promote an active role for the Muslim community in helping to solve the different problems of this society (like crime, drugs, unemployment, families' disintegration, etc.)

To assist in the endeavours being exerted towards protecting human rights in general and Muslims in particular.

To establish a relationship of cooperation and coordination with the other institutions and organizations in any activity which does not contradict with the aims and objectives of MAB.

To broaden the scope of dialogue between the different cultures and faiths in order to serve society and humanity.

To improve the relationship between the Muslim community and the British institutions on the one hand, and the Muslim world on the other so that their social, economic and political relationships shall be revived on sound basis.

To support just causes and take advantage for this of technology, constructive education, and the good morals of society.

Formed in late 2002, Meem Music & Audio is an independent record label based in the Midlands and London that seeks to foster and showcase talented nasheed artists in the UK and abroad. Nasheeds are a genre of music broadly defined as Muslim spiritual music and encompass more well known forms such as qawwalis and raags. In keeping with Islamic traditions they are often sung a cappella or with percussion only. We encourage our artists to sing in English and to fuse traditional styles of music from the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East and Africa with influences from where they were born and brought up.

Our objective is to promote and develop this cultural facet of Islam and, given that ignorance is often the root cause of prejudice, seek to build bridges of understanding with those of other faiths or none. We are the first exclusive nasheed record label formed in the West and were formed by experienced media professionals who have many years experience in the nasheeds genre.

Our music and artists have featured in the media, including BBC Asian Network and MTV Desi. Meem also organises nasheed concerts and co-operates with other organisations on key events that feature nasheeds.

At Meem we are committed to developing and launching new talent. Each year we work with many budding artists, giving them valuable advice, exposure to the studio environment and an insight into what it takes to be a successful nasheed artist. We work mainly in the UK and USA and strive to give Muslim youth creative alternatives. We look for that which will develop the nasheed genre and culturally and artistically caters for Muslim communities in the West as well as for those who are not Muslim. We are also committed to assisting artists in UK and overseas distribution.
